Biography
 |
Born
in Hong Kong, Law Wai-Ming graduated from the
Department of Journalism at the National Cheng
Chi University, Taiwan. He later went on to study
Film Production at the Columbia Film and TV College,
Los Angeles. Law has spent many years in writing,
illustration, photography, TV/film production
and has also worked as a program coordinator for
the Hong Kong International Film |
|
Festival, as well as the Chief Editor
of a film magazine. He also once headed the research
unit of Hong Kong Film Archive.
Law later obtained a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from
the School of Creative Industry, Queensland University
of Technology, Australia, majoring in Digital Arts (Digital
Video, 3D Animation and Web Design).
A truly modern Chinese artist, Law’s work often
incorporates a spectrum of colors achieved through accomplished
graphic techniques whilst maintaining a subtle respect
for contemporary art. He has successfully integrated
new ideas and the latest graphic design techniques with
more traditional ones with a stunningly modern effect.
The depth in Law’s passion in graphics is particularly
reflected in the spiritual overtones radiating from
his design works. Semi-abstract compositions of serenity,
solitude and wistful melancholy prevail. However, Law
steps further with the introduction of subtle new harmonies
in his work. He has long felt that exploration of the
graphic sector has much to reveal for greater artistic
freedom.
In diverging from all previous forms of art, his work
aims to create a progressive sense of balance, setting
the stage for an era of liberation for future artists.
